Recruitment Team

SRO Volunteers,

We are looking forward to another strong season at SRO this year and teams of us are hard at work getting things ready for the season. We appreciate all your hard work and commitment to the students, their families, and the SRO community – we couldn’t do this without you!

We are in the process of organizing our recruitment efforts and want to ensure that we recruit Oakland youth who need our program, will benefit from it, and can commit to it. We have all seen the amazing impact SRO has on the students and the SRO community as a whole.

Given that, we are putting together a Recruitment Team and we need your help! We are looking for people who can:

- Enthusiastically pitch SRO to students, their families, and school staff;

- Go to school sites during the school day on pre-arranged visits and speak in classrooms in front of groups of students for 10-15 minutes (we will provide key points to address prior to school visits);

- Speak to families about SRO at school registration;

- Be available for a few dates in mid-August until mid-September to speak at schools during the school day (between 8:00-3:30) for about an hour in total (specific times and dates will vary based on each school site). We are trying to go to each school (all three Castlemont schools, Rudsdale Continuation School, and Oakland Tech) at least twice, possibly three times during this time frame.

If you are interested in being part of the recruitment team, contact Heidi at heidiemmel@comcast.net. Even if you are unsure if your schedule will allow it, please contact her and let her know your interest and concern; your interest in being a team member is most important, as we will try to make the details and logistics work. Heidi will contact you and provide you with more information.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to another great season running with and mentoring the students of Oakland!

In community,

Spencer
